Information for speakers
The „Seminar Wilhelminenberg“ is a scientific colloquium with a long standing tradition in Vienna.
It addresses themes and questions of common interest to the two organizing institutions, the Research Institute of Wildlife Ecology
of the University of Veterinary Medicine, and the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Ethology of the Austrian Academy of
Sciences.
Both institutes are located in the foothills of the Wienerwald in Vienna, Savoyenstraße 1 and 1a, opposite to the
castle Wilhelminenberg.
Seminars are held from October to January and March to June every Wednesday at 16:15 h in the lecture hall of the inviting institution.
However, we meet for a “warm-up” with coffee and tea already at 15:45. Talks should be in English and last about 45 minutes.
The following discussion is principally open end, but rarely exceeds 20 to 30 minutes.
A beamer for PowerPoint presentation (PC or MAC) is available.
Additional requirements should be announced in advance.
The seminar is regularly visited by senior scientists, post-docs, and students (beginners to PhD level) from the organizing
institution and from many other academic institutions in Vienna with related scientific interests. Hence, speakers should
acknowledge the heterogeneity of the audience and present a rather general introduction to their topic.
Information for the audience
Title of the talk, author, and author’s institution (including e-mail address and web page if desired) should be sent to the
organizer until the end of September for the winter seminar and until the end of February for the summer seminar.
In order to introduce our guest speakers and their topic well ahead, we kindly request a summary of the talk at least four weeks
before the announced date, a brief CV, and citations of 3-5 relevant papers. This information will be made available at our web site.
